I'm a gentleman and an electronic music enthusiast. For my first post I want to share a great group I found some months ago while looking through one of my friends hard drives. They go by the name of metro area and hail from Brooklyn New York. With all the hard, headbanging electro I've been devastating my eardrums with, its nice to change it up with a laid back house vibe like metro areas. Data Life came out with "Smile Your On DaDa" Great song, awesome for the dance floors it has a twinkly sound but still has the electric beat most like. This song is a hit! I have just recently heard of these guys, I think there going to be big. Their sound is solid and you can definatley see these guys teaming up with crookers somewhere in the near future.

Lykke Li has been featured on E.L before apart of the UO LSTN project post. As well as the youtube post for it. Lykke Li is a folk/elctro artist, Her song "Litttle Bit" is amazing. With a small metal drums and a ukelele underneath a soft, high pitched voice the song is really amazing. Its music video is amazing as well .Her stlye is unique and unheard of. The one negative about her music is that it is a litte bit (see what i did there) monotone. That doesnt means shes bad though.

Big news in the music world. His greatly anticipated album Major lazer. Now E.L has a leek of it, including some diplo remixes and a Edu Mix. Not to mention Santigold is on it! This tiny taste will leave you craving more! I can't wait for his album to release. The only problem? Diplo seems to think t-pains baby crying in the background of a song makes it good. Unfourtantly their wrong. Once one gets past that, the remix is an A+!

StunnaMan Is a talented rapper from oakland, the bay area rap is known as hyphy and its not very well known out of northern california. His style is a combination of hyphy and new hip-hop. StunnaMan's hit "Drugs" is one of those songs you shamelessly love. The song as well as his voice get stuck in your head like no other song, however its not bad. The song is just fun to listen to. If someone were to play it at a party, people would dance. Its a short song but good. My grade? B+ Its a good song and very fun to listen to but its not the greatest and its originality isn't very good.

Ellie Goulding + Sam Sparro

I have known of Sam Sparro for quiet some time now, when first listening to him you say to yourself "How gay is this man". The anwser- pretty gay. Jokes aside I always thought his music was great. When i heard of Ellie Goulding, I thought to myself "oh another indie singer big whoop". I was wrong. Ellie Goulding did a cover of Sam Sparro's hit Black and Gold, She sped it up and at first i thought it wasnt very good. Only after listening to it two more times did i actually like it. Some of her other song like "wish i stayed" and "guns + horses" are very good two. Its like a combination of a skinny adele mixed with a soft electro background. Her soft voice isnt amazing and neither are her songs, but its orginality and new age sound make it better than most, and thats what Ellie Goulding really is. Just better than most. Not the best but not the worst. I would pay to see her live sure. would I pay a cent over $15, probably notl. To wrap this up she is a B-, she would have been a C+ but her orginality is what brought the grade up.

Chiddy Bang

DiscoDust ran an article about Chiddy Bang and I thought we should to. Chiddy Bang is a in the underground Hip-hop scence in philly. Now when someone say underground hip-hop, I usally say no thanks. Very rarely I will find a great hip-hop artist that I think needs some attention. The song i love the most, is a remix of Kids (MGMT) . The song Kids is a great song! But Chiddy Bang took it a step futher. Chiddy Bang is the chili cheese fries of music. Two great things by themselves, but when put together the right way are amazing! Chiddy Bang is definatley on my favorites list!

Urban Outfitters Project LSTN

Just recently I discoverd a project Urban Outfitters is doing. The store is releasing albums filled with music that is played in the store! There project is called "LSTN". They have relesed four and it is free for anyone to download. I downloaded all of the albums and begin to listen to them. At first only a few songs caught my ear, but after a while I like at least half the songs wich is pretty good considering its multiple artists. The genre is folk or alternative (at best). For a mall clothing store, its great music. I'm not a Folk fan and I admit that i will bash it, but I have to say this is by far the best Folk music I have ever heard. Sadly not all the music is good. Some in fact most of it isnt, but its free. Among all else I love free.
